You can uninstall most Windows programs from Settings, the Start menu, or Control Panel. On Windows 11, Settings > Apps > Installed apps is the most useful place to start.
How to Uninstall a Program in Windows 11
- Open Settings.
- Select Apps.
- Select Installed apps.
- Find the program you want to remove.
- Select the More button next to it, then select Uninstall.
- Follow the program’s removal prompts.
Uninstall a Program from the Start Menu
- Open Start and find the app in the app list.
- Right-click the app.
- Select Uninstall.
- Follow any additional prompts.
Use Control Panel for Traditional Desktop Programs
- Search Windows for Control Panel and open it.
- Select Programs > Programs and Features.
- Select the program.
- Choose Uninstall or Uninstall/Change.
- Complete the program’s uninstaller.
Microsoft notes that some programs cannot currently be removed from Settings, so Control Panel remains useful for certain desktop applications.
If a Program Will Not Uninstall
Restart Windows and try again. If the app provides Repair or Reset options under Installed apps, those can help when your goal is to fix the program rather than remove it. For a stubborn desktop application, follow the publisher’s official removal instructions rather than manually deleting its program folder.
Windows 10
Windows 10 also supports uninstalling through Apps settings and Control Panel, although its Settings labels differ from Windows 11. Microsoft ended ordinary Windows 10 support on October 14, 2025, so Windows 10 users should also consider whether their PC can move to a supported version of Windows.
Summary
On Windows 11, start with Settings > Apps > Installed apps. If the program cannot be removed there, try its Start-menu uninstall command or Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
