“Sleep mode” can mean two different things on an iPhone: Sleep Focus, which silences or filters notifications, or the screen turning off automatically because of Auto-Lock. Use the section that matches what you want to change.
Turn Off Sleep Focus
- Open Control Center.
- Tap Focus.
- If Sleep is active, tap Sleep to turn it off.
You can also review Sleep Focus under Settings > Focus.
Stop Sleep Focus from Turning On Automatically
Sleep Focus can follow the sleep schedule configured in Health. To keep the sleep schedule but stop Sleep Focus from turning on automatically, open Health, find Sleep, open Full Schedule & Options, and turn off Use Schedule for Sleep Focus. You can also review Sleep under Settings > Focus.
Keep the iPhone Screen On Longer
- Open Settings.
- Tap Display & Brightness.
- Tap Auto-Lock.
- Choose a longer interval or Never if that option is available and appropriate.
A longer Auto-Lock time can use more battery power. Some conditions, such as Low Power Mode or device-management policies, can affect available Auto-Lock behavior.
Sleep Focus and Auto-Lock Are Different
Turning off Sleep Focus does not stop the display from locking, and changing Auto-Lock does not disable a Sleep schedule. Keeping these settings separate avoids changing the wrong feature.
Summary
Use Control Center or Focus settings to turn off Sleep Focus. If by “sleep” you mean the display turning off, change Auto-Lock under Display & Brightness instead.
