How to Remove the Xbox App from Windows 10

If you no longer use the Xbox app on Windows 10, start with Windows’ normal uninstall controls. Do not assume that removing the Xbox app also removes Gaming Services, Xbox Game Bar, or every gaming-related Windows component.

How to Uninstall the Xbox App

  1. Open Start.
  2. Look for the Xbox app.
  3. Right-click the app.
  4. Select Uninstall if Windows offers the option.
  5. Follow any prompts that appear.

Uninstall from Windows Settings

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select Apps.
  3. Open the list of installed apps.
  4. Find the Xbox app.
  5. Select Uninstall if the option is available.

Microsoft’s supported Windows uninstall guidance recommends Start, Settings, or Control Panel depending on the type of application.

Xbox App, Game Bar, and Gaming Services Are Different

The Xbox app is not the same thing as Xbox Game Bar or Gaming Services. Removing one does not necessarily remove the others. Gaming Services can also be required by games installed through Microsoft gaming services, so avoid broad PowerShell package-removal commands simply because several components contain the word “Xbox.”

What If Uninstall Is Not Available?

Some applications and Windows components cannot be removed through the normal Settings interface. If Windows does not provide an uninstall option, do not force-delete system folders or run an unknown “debloat” script. You can instead remove shortcuts, stop the app from launching automatically where applicable, or leave the component installed.

Windows 10 Support Status

Microsoft ended ordinary Windows 10 support on October 14, 2025. Windows 10 still runs, but standard support and free security updates have ended for normal installations. Eligible devices may have temporary Extended Security Updates options. If your computer supports Windows 11, consider moving to a supported Windows version.

Summary

Use Windows’ normal Start or Apps settings to uninstall the Xbox app when an Uninstall option is available. Treat the Xbox app, Game Bar, and Gaming Services as separate components, and avoid blanket PowerShell removal commands.
