Windows 11 lets you join a wireless network from Quick Settings on the taskbar. You need Wi-Fi hardware that is enabled, a network within range, and the correct security key when the network is protected.
How to Connect to Wi-Fi in Windows 11
- Select the Network, Sound, or Battery area on the right side of the taskbar to open Quick Settings.
- Make sure Wi-Fi is turned on.
- Open the list of available Wi-Fi networks.
- Select the network you want to use.
- Select Connect.
- Enter the network security key if Windows asks for it.
- Wait for Windows to report that the connection is established.
Connect Automatically
If you trust the network and use it regularly, you can enable the option to connect automatically when it is in range. Avoid automatically joining unfamiliar public networks.
What If Your Wi-Fi Network Is Missing?
Confirm that Wi-Fi is enabled and Airplane mode is off. Move closer to the router, refresh the available network list, and restart the router and PC if appropriate. If Windows shows no Wi-Fi capability at all, check Device Manager and the PC manufacturer’s support information for the wireless adapter and driver.
What If the Password Is Rejected?
Wi-Fi passwords are case-sensitive. Verify that you selected the correct network and entered its current security key. If other devices also cannot connect, the problem may be with the router or network rather than Windows 11.
If Windows Connects but There Is No Internet
A successful Wi-Fi connection only means the PC joined the local wireless network. If Windows says there is no internet, test another device, restart the network equipment when appropriate, and use Windows’ network troubleshooting options before changing advanced adapter settings.
Summary
Open Quick Settings, turn on Wi-Fi, choose the network, select Connect, and enter its security key. If the network is missing or has no internet access, troubleshoot the wireless adapter, router, and internet service separately.
